Base Vehicle was a Ford Ranger 2.2l with automatic gearbox.
This is how the vehicle arrived at our facility:
To mount the sampler we had to modify the vehicle frame. All such modification are done under full test and
approval!
Test fit and check of working position of sampling head, which required earth contact.
Our client decided to completely replace the original pickup bed. So we gained a lot of space to do the
packaging: hydraulic tank, oil cooler, lines and hoses, filter, PRV, QD-coupling etc. If the sampler is
removed (takes just some minutes) everything is covered by a removable rugged plate so the vehicle can be
used as a standard PickUp.
This is how the vehicle looks like with the new flatbed. All three sides can be opened and removed.
The sampler can be accessed from all three sides easily. Since sampling only takes place in spring and fall,
we supplied a removable floorplate. This plate can be inserted within minutes after the sampler has been
removed - this procedure takes only minutes to give our client a full-featured PickUp.
Ergonomics play an important role when sampling. We tailored the tailgate crossmember to be removable to
ease access to the soil samples even more.
In our PoV it's the details that seperate between standard and excellence. The control unit for the driver
has been fitted with a blackened aluminum cylinder that exactly fits the cupholder in the mid arm rest.
Stable fit, optimum placement and no drilled holes or such in the interior!
After final approval and release the vehicle was ready to go!
